My experiences and the impact of my work in Peru
Several years ago, at the invitation of the HoPe Foundation, I traveled to Peru to offer my treatments at the Hospital Regional del Cuzco, a burn center that treats the poorest of the poor. The HoPe Foundation has been supporting this hospital for 25 years and has meant a lot to the burn ward.
After seeing the results of my treatments, including immediate pain relief and accelerated wound healing, I was asked to continue my work in hospitals in Lima. This included giving treatments at the Instituto De Salud del Niño San Borja and the Children's Hospital in Brena. This experience further fueled my passion for volunteering and showed me how much difference my treatments can make, even in the most dire situations.
A mission with impact - Cuzco
During my time in Peru, I faced severe shortages in health care. The Hospital Regional del Cuzco was struggling with a shortage of knowledge, medicines, materials and personnel. Many patients did not receive pain medication and aftercare was limited.
Despite these challenges, together with the HoPe Foundation and with the support of staff at Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam, I contributed to improvements in the burn center. Medical care was better in Lima, but I still helped many patients, especially children, with my treatment that provides immediate relief from burns. The doctors and nurses in Lima were impressed by my method and were happy to work complementary.

Together we can change lives - Lima
I am 100% motivated to continue this work. Nevertheless, it is financially difficult to continue without some support. All expenses for my volunteer work (think travel and accommodation expenses) have been paid through personal funds so far, and therefore any donation is more than welcome. With your support, I can continue to contribute to pain relief and the healing process of burn patients.
On this website, I share with you my experiences and the impact of my work in Peru. By donating, you not only help me, but more importantly, you help the many children and adults who desperately need help.
If you would like to contribute to this important work please make a donation. Please contact me for more information.

My name is Ana Lucía.
I work here in the burn unit with the patients thanks to the support of the "HoPe" Foundation.
Today we hosted a volunteer, Claudia. Actually she has been here for a week and she gives therapy in pain relief. For me this is necessary and important, I have seen the result.
Many of the patients we are treating in these days are satisfied and grateful with this work because it has helped them a lot to relieve pain. Especially the pain when they bathe because they are very burnt and it has largely relieved their pain. Now this patient wants this treatment of bathing to continue to relieve their pain. Patients who go to and come out of this dressing change room also say that these treatments helped them a lot as well. I asked the patients if this therapy helps them. They all say it does, that it did help. That the pain has lessened, but also the swelling and I wish they would continue to have this therapy during bathing and dressing changes.
Patient:
Yesterday I went in and the volunteer did her work with me, a therapy. I felt enlightened after that and they also healed me easily, so far I haven't felt any pain.
Nurse:
Do you want the volunteer to continue working with you?
Patient:
Sure, very much I want her to continue working with me.
Nurse:
Tomorrow he will go to the dressing room, also in the bath.
Patient:
Yes. I want them to keep helping me through so I can go into the dressing change room with them tomorrow.
Nurse:
Thank you very much!
Volunteer:
Thank you so much!
